Changelog2026-06-11

What's New — June 11, 2026

It's been a busy spring. Since the last update, RugbyStats has gained a complete visual redesign, a team messaging system built for youth-sports safety, public recruiting pages, alumni management, and a long list of charting and film-review improvements.

The Redesign

  • A fresh look everywhere — Softer dark surfaces, cleaner cards and tables, and clearer buttons across the whole app. Your club's colors still apply automatically.
  • Sidebar navigation — The crowded top menu is gone. Everything now lives in a grouped sidebar: your team tools up top, the full Club section below, all one click away. On tablets it collapses to a compact icon rail.
  • Bottom tabs on phones — On your phone, the most-used destinations (Home, Stats, Messages, Club) sit in a thumb-friendly bar at the bottom, with everything else in a "More" sheet. No more hamburger menu.
  • Home is now a dashboard — Your season record, points for and against, tackle rate, and lineout percentage at the top; your next event and in-progress game front and center; recent results as compact win/loss rows.
  • Stats, organized — One filter bar (season, live vs. recorded, export) and four clean views: Team, Players, Leaders, and Field Map — plus a per-game scoring trend chart.
  • Club Overview works for you — Instead of a wall of links, the Club page now shows live numbers (events this week, recruits to triage, dues outstanding, active injuries) and a "Needs attention" list that takes you straight to what needs doing.
  • Simpler Club sections — Injuries, Safety, and DOB confirmation now live together under Health & Safety; Dues and Equipment under Money & Gear; Development and Scouting alongside Training. Old links redirect automatically.
  • Events for everyone — Players and all club members can now view the events calendar and RSVP; editing stays with coaches and admins.

Team Messaging

  • Built-in team chat — Staff channels, team channels, and direct messages, right inside RugbyStats — no more juggling outside apps.
  • Safe messaging for minors — Players under 18 can only be messaged in supervised threads that require a verified guardian and a staff supervisor present.
  • Guardian verification — Parents verify by email and stay linked to their player's account.
  • Email notifications — Get notified of new messages, with digest emails and quiet hours you control in Settings.
  • Admin controls — Pause messaging org-wide, place legal holds, audit message history, and export records when you need them.

Recruiting

  • Public recruiting pages — Share a link or QR code and prospective players can express interest through your own branded form — no account needed, with spam protection built in.
  • Campaigns and form builder — Create targeted recruiting campaigns, customize your form's questions, and track every version.
  • Triage inbox — Review submissions in one place, email recruits directly, and convert them to roster players in a click.

Alumni

  • Season retirement wizard — End the season properly: graduate your seniors, advance everyone else a grade, and roll into the new season in one guided flow.
  • Alumni directory — Keep graduated players connected, with search, filters, CSV import, and a public self-registration page you can share.
  • Mailouts and fundraising — Email alumni segments and publish public fundraising campaign pages, with unsubscribe handling done for you.

Charting & Film Review

  • Local video files — Film review can now play video straight from a file on your device — no upload or link required.
  • Second-half video support — Games filmed in two clips? Add a separate second-half video and the player switches automatically.
  • Anchor events — Mark Kickoff and 2nd Half Start while charting to keep video and game clock perfectly aligned.
  • Sturdier live charting — The game clock now survives screen locks and page reloads, events save locally first and sync when you're back online, and a sync badge shows you exactly where things stand.
  • Faster dual-screen review — Calibration, bookmarks, event navigation, and a Jump to Last button right in the dual-screen controls, with event buttons placed for iPad thumb reach.

Roster & Players

  • Player accounts — Players can join your org through an invite link, get matched to their roster spot, and see their own profile and season stats.
  • First and last names — The roster now stores proper first/last names with an upgraded 10-column CSV import and export.
  • Season captains and awards — Record captains and end-of-season awards on the roster.
  • More penalty types — Six new penalty options including diving over, side entry, and four additional foul-play and ruck infringements.

Improvements

  • New RugbyStats.net logo across the app.
  • Edit event timelines — Remove a mis-recorded event directly from a game's stats timeline with two-click confirmation.
  • Scheduled games and match events stay in sync — Creating one automatically creates the other.
  • Goal lines on development charts — Player development graphs now show the target you're working toward.
  • Updated Terms and Privacy Policy — Refreshed for the new recruiting and messaging features; you'll be asked to re-accept once.

Bug Fixes

  • Resuming a live game no longer stops the clock — Tapping Resume from Home keeps the game clock running exactly where it was.
  • Player "My Profile" link fixed — It previously led to a missing page for some players.
  • Password reset flow completed — Recovery emails now land on a working update-password form every time.
