Scoring

Try

A try is scored when the ball is grounded on or behind the opponent's try line. Worth 5 points.

What to Look For

Record when the referee awards the try, not when the ball is touched down — wait for the signal. If the TMO is reviewing, wait for the final decision. Always attribute to the try scorer.

Best Practices

Track where tries are scored (field position) to identify attacking patterns. Compare try sources — set piece tries vs. open play tries — to understand your team's strengths.
